Course Overview

The course covers both Unit 2 PPE User and Unit 4 Management of Working at Height through comprehensive theoretical and practical training.
Delegates will learn the correct practical use of PPE along with theoretical knowledge and intended purpose which will be as close as possible to the delegates’ work situation.
The training provides an outline of legislation, equipment standards, the process of a safe and systematic approach to working at height, detailed knowledge of application of hierarchy or risk, selection of working at height methods and work at height supervision.
The equipment used during the training course carries a weight limit of 136-140kg. For participants this maximum weight includes clothes and safety equipment, we therefore recommend a maximum bodyweight of 120kg. Our equipment also has a maximum waist size of 120cm.

Course Content

By the end of this training programme delegates will be;
- Familiar with the Work at Height Regulations and the UK Legislative Structure
- Aware of the requirement to organise and plan working at height activities
- Aware of the need to follow a safe system of work and associated documentation including risk assessments and method statements
- Familiar with need to plan for emergencies and rescue
- Aware of Supervisor Manager responsibilities
- Aware of the importance of conducting tool talks prior to task commencement
- Aware of identifying working at height hazards and controls
- Familiar with the use and inspection of safety harnesses and lanyards
- Aware of the types and requirements of fall protection systems
- Aware of the types and requirements of working platforms, including ladders
- Familiar with inspection of a range of fall arrest equipment
- Familiar with the correct use of harnesses at height
- Familiar with the correct use of lanyards at height
- Familiar with the correct use of fall arrest at height
- Familiar with the correct techniques to ascend descend ladders

  • Certification: A 3t Training Services certificate will be issued upon successful completion.
  • Target audience: Personnel who are involved in the management and/or planning of working at height activities.
  • Revalidation: The course must be revalidated every 2 years.
  • Items to bring: Government Issued Photographic ID eg Driver Licence or Passport.
  • Health prerequisites: Due to certain aspects of the course being potentially physically demanding and/or stressful, delegates will be required to confirm their medical fitness & physical ability to participate on this course by completing our centre medical self-screening form prior to course commencement.
