Course Overview

This course is often referred to as 'Survival Refresher' or 'BOSIET Refresher'.

This OPITO-approved Combined FOET with Emergency Breathing System (EBS) & Compress Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) will give delegates the opportunity to practice and demonstrate emergency response skills which are not possible to practice during offshore drills, exercises and emergency training. This includes helicopter emergency escape, emergency first aid and basic firefighting and self-rescue. This course is a mix of theoretical and practical sessions, during which delegates will be required to demonstrate their level of knowledge and understanding of the training programme content.

Prerequisites

Prerequisites Required!
In order to complete OPITO Combined FOET, delegates must hold:
    - A valid and in-date OGUK Medical (or equivalent)
    - A valid and in-date Fit to Train Assessment (declaring the participant fit or unfit)

    AND

    - A valid and in-date BOSIET, BOSIET (with CA-EBS), T-BOSIET, FOET, FOET (with CA-EBS), or T-FOET certificate

Course Content

Delegates completing this training course will be able to;
- Demonstrate, in a simulated environment, that they can use the safety equipment and follow procedures in preparing for and during helicopter emergencies – with particular focus on escaping from a helicopter following ditching
- Demonstrate that they can use basic firefighting equipment effectively, and use self-rescue techniques in low visibility and completely obscured visibility situations e.g. smoke filled areas
- Demonstrate that they can perform basic first aid
- Demonstrate the use of Compressed Air - Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) and Emergency Breathing System (EBS)

  • Certification: An OPITO certificate will be issued upon successful course completion.
  • Certificate validity (months): 48
  • Target audience: Personnel working in the offshore oil and gas industry who need to meet the further offshore safety and emergency response training requirements.
  • Revalidation: The course must be revalidated every 4 years.
  • Items to bring: Government Issued Photographic ID eg Driver Licence or Passport, swimwear and a towel. Delegates must also bring shoes suitable for wearing in water.
  • Health prerequisites: Due to certain aspects of the course being potentially physically demanding and/or stressful, delegates will be required to confirm their medical fitness & physical ability to participate on this course by completing our centre medical self-screening form prior to course commencement.
