Course Overview

CISRS Basic Scaffold Inspection covers scaffolding components, forms of construction and inspection procedures.

The training will provide an understanding of basic access scaffolds and compliance with current scaffolding legislation and Codes of Practice.

CISRS Basic Scaffold Inspection is aimed at persons responsible for inspecting and checking basic scaffolds for safe use, and for signing certificates and registers in accordance with statutory regulations.

Prerequisites

Prerequisites Required!
In order to complete CISRS Basic Scaffold Inspection, delegates must hold:
    - A CITB HS&E (Health, Safety and Environment) Test within 2 years or hold an accepted exemption

    And meet one of the following criteria:

    (a) Hold a current CISRS Scaffolder, Advanced or Supervisor Card OR; (b) Hold a current or expired CISRS Basic Inspection card and is attending the course in order to renew their card. OR; (c) Minimum of 2 years’ experience of scaffolding structures gained via their role within industry* *experience can be verified via CV or letter from employer. This must include detail on experience/awareness of scaffolding structures.

Course Content

Delegates completing this training course will be able to;
- Identify and inspect tubes, boards, ladders, gin wheels, ropes and fittings correctly
- State the main requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, the Work at Heights Regulations 2005 and codes of practice relating to scaffolding
- Identify the construction requirements common to all scaffolds to include which includes foundations, scaffold framework, TG20 compliant scaffold and permissible additions, work platforms, handrails, toeboards, safe access and egress
- Carry out inspections and fault identification on access scaffolds
- Complete and maintain reports in accordance with current statutory provision

  • Certification: A CISRS certificate will be awarded on successful completion.
  • Certificate validity (months): 60
  • Target audience: All personnel who are Scaffolders, Managers, Supervisors and Site Agents.
  • Revalidation: The course must be revalidated every 5 years.
  • Items to bring: Government Issued Photographic ID eg Driver Licence or Passport
  • Health prerequisites: Due to certain aspects of the course being potentially physically demanding and/or stressful, delegates will be required to confirm their medical fitness & physical ability to participate on this course by completing our centre medical self-screening form prior to course commencement
