GWO Basic Technical Training (BTT) Bolt Tightening Module

Course Overview

The aim of this module is to prepare participants for company specific bolt tightening training, through scenario-based training.
After having successfully completed the BTT Bolt Tightening Module, participants will have be able to: 1) Act independently to safely plan, carryout and complete generic bolt torquing and tensioning tasks to specification using energy powered equipment (Ability, intermediate level).

Prerequisites

Prerequisites Required!
In order to complete GWO Basic Technical Training (BTT) Bolt Tightening Module, delegates must hold:
    Delegates are required to be WINDA registered before arriving for the course. All personnel participating must meet the participant prerequisites described in the GWO Requirements for Training.
    There are additional prerequisites for both the Bolt Tightening module: a. Before attending the BTT Bolt Tightening Module participants must first complete the BBT Mechanical Module.

Course Content

This course will include:
- Bolt tightening in the wind industry
- Bolt torqueing using energy powered tools
- Planning and preparing to torque
- Correctly torque bolts using electrical and hydraulic tools
- Post use inspection and packing up of tools used and post job documentation
- Bolt tensioning using energy powered tools
- Planning and preparing to tension
- Correctly tension bolts using hydraulic tools
- Post use inspection and packing up of tools used and post job documentation
- Using mechanical handling aids with bolt tightening tasks

  • Certification: GWO Basic Technical Training (BTT) Bolt Tightening CERT
  • Target audience: The Basic Technical Training modules are targeted at candidates who have no previous experience of hydraulic, mechanical, electrical or installation systems, or working with energy powered bolt tightening, but may also be used to upskill candidates who have some knowledge but not of its application in wind turbines.
  • Revalidation: The Basic Technical Training is an enduring qualification, so a validity period does not apply to this training. This is based on the expectation that the participant is actively working in a wind turbine environment. If there is an extended period of absence from applying the skills, retraining and recertification may be required according to national legislation and company policy.
    A maximum interval between successful completion of the BTT Hydraulic, Mechanical, Electrical, Bolt Tightening and Installation modules does not apply. This is based on the expectation that the participant is actively working in a wind turbine environment.
